Dreaming, reimagined. Sound designed by Nick Rye. The poem recited by Nix Wood. The dancer, Talia Sealey
"The Spirit’s Ride is a meditative film by Roger Thorp which alludes to the cataclysmic human appetites which have propelled us towards the apocalyptic countdown of the climate crisis. The film positions contemporary finite concerns and appetites over-layed, in contrast, with a wider contemplation of deeper indigenous knowing and spiritual interconnectivity, set against the vast expanse of the infinite universe. The film is a palimpsest of deep concern layered with hope and potential." Joseph Clarke, Anima Mundi Gallery
“I had the pleasure to watch Roger Thorp’s latest video piece at “Protected by Alarms” and I was really moved by it. The video brought a voice to the naked emotions that modern media tends to disguise or hide from us in a engaging, yet subtle way. It is beautifully made and sincere. A breathing poem about us, life and the planet earth. Thank you.” Alban Roinard

The Spirit’s Ride
in the dead of night, wrapped in pure white fire
touch the spirits ride, touch the total feeling
total energy, hear the ancients speak,
i must be dreaming
as the forest falls do i hear the call,
as the forest falls, i wake up screaming
can i hear disorder
can i see the law there
can i touch the spirit’s ride
in the dead of night, wrapped in pure white fire
touch the spirits ride, touch the total feeling
but it’s all cut up and it’s all torn down
and it’s gone, way back screaming
it’s oil and gold and it’s bought and sold,
some dreamstone stealing
it’s all cut up and it’s all torn down
and it’s gone, gone way back screaming
can i hear disorder
can i see the law there
can i touch the spirit’s ride
in the desert night, wrapped in pure white fire
flash the firefly, touch the total feeling
total energy, hear the ancients speak,
total energy, i wake up burning
as in moments rare thought i saw you there,
in moments rare, i wake up dreaming
oh now i feel total energy
touch the total feeling
can i hear clear water
can i see the traveller
can I touch the spirit’s ride
