DUST… WHERE DO I BEGIN:
Castles of Sand at Anima Mundi Gallery to coincide with the G7 Summit, one mile from the gallery.
A film poem, featuring the voice of Nix Wood. Dur 1:43
Aligned with the concept of the G7 Summit, Dust, where do I Begin, visually explores the desperate need for internationalism in an age of crises often amplified by often profligate leaders. This plays alongside a naïve poetic recital that pleads for an understanding of humility and of the chance of beauty. With an understanding of nothingness, or dust perhaps, we may see beyond the conceit of our personal, national and religious histories towards a kind of enlightened universal reason many espouse.
Within a spinning sphere, a frenetic collision and fusion of national flags and ecological cataclysm slowly gives way to a prayer and timeless imagery, suggesting that we slow down, rethink this place.
Dust is previewing in “Castles of Sand' at leading contemporary art gallery Anima Mundi in St Ives, one mile from the summit. The context of this mixed exhibition, which includes artists from the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa, offers a unique opportunity for a poetic space to meditate on key issues facing our species and through intricate interconnection our entire planet, at a pivotal turning point in human history.
